Microsoft fixes Windows 11 bug that disabled mouse and keyboard in Recovery Mode

Microsoft recently released an urgent out-of-band (OOB) update, designated as KB5070773, to tackle a disruptive bug in Windows 11. This glitch was causing USB input devices, such as mice and keyboards, to become non-functional within the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE). The problem emerged following the deployment of the KB5066835 security update earlier this month and has impacted devices operating on Windows 11 versions 24H2, 25H2, as well as Windows Server 2025. This swift response highlights Microsoft’s commitment to ensuring seamless user experiences and system reliability.
