Microsoft has swiftly released an urgent out-of-band (OOB) update, labeled KB5070773, to tackle a pesky bug in Windows 11 that rendered USB input devices, such as mice and keyboards, non-functional within the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE). This glitch emerged following the deployment of the KB5066835 security update earlier this month, impacting devices operating on Windows 11 versions 24H2, 25H2, as well as Windows Server 2025.
In response to user feedback and in an effort to ensure seamless user experience, Microsoft acted promptly to mitigate this issue. This critical update is designed to restore functionality to the affected systems, ensuring that users can rely on their USB devices during recovery processes. By addressing this bug, Microsoft reaffirms its commitment to maintaining the stability and reliability of its operating systems, even as new updates and features are rolled out.
